These are very common tasks, which will most likely constantly need attention:
[edit] Front page design
As you can see, I gave the Main Page a very simple design. Absolutely nothing major there. The page is open for editing, and if you can give it a nice design, it would be awesome. morshem 08:55, 25 Nov 2006 (CET)
[edit] Re: Front page design
- I guess we can learn from Wikipedia. I could try a similar approach for the top bar at least, for the Twinsunica. --Wacko 20:22, 10 December 2006 (CET)
- I was thinking of maybe listing the main categories (characters, locations, etc.) with representative images. Sort of like the Hebrew Wikipedia. morshem 20:40, 10 December 2006 (CET)
- Yes, I very much like that idea. We should have the recategorization finish first, then put the main ones on the front page. --Wacko 23:17, 10 December 2006 (CET)

I started making a small draft, here. Of course the images should be replaced later with own-made images, and also the categories are debatable, but what do you think of the general idea? morshem 18:31, 15 April 2007 (CEST)
- Looking good. In my opinion, the images should not link to categories, but portal articles. I don't like the information at Category:Characters to be written into a category description. I think it deserves a place in the article namespace.
- Yes, categories are disputable. I wouldn't put Legends there, it would more fit under a collection site Miscellaneous. (sp?) --Kobold 20:10, 15 April 2007 (CEST)
- Actually, I don't really like linking to categories at all. Maybe we should create portals like in Wikipedia (e.g. wikipedia:Portal:History) for each section. morshem 20:39, 15 April 2007 (CEST)
- That's what I had in mind. And for the links to Island inhabitants, we could replace them by lists with the most important inhabitants of the island. --Kobold 21:02, 15 April 2007 (CEST)

Hmm, it seems that "portal" is not a known namespace here at all... morshem 05:50, 16 April 2007 (CEST)
I'm working on a new version for the front page. Progress can be seen here: User_talk:Wacko/Main_page-new. I'll open a new thread on the MBN when I feel it's mature enough for further adjustments. I'll incorporate the categories index as proposed by morshem somehow. --Wacko 22:11, 23 April 2007 (CEST)

[edit] First Aid forums
The Hints\Spoilers and System Problems forums on the MBN got merged, so we need to update all our Related Links to take note of that. - Kobold 15:25, 1 January 2008 (CET)
- If somebody knows how to run a MediaWiki bot, it would save a lot of work. morshem 16:04, 4 January 2008 (CET)
- Hmm.. I don't. But that would be worth looking into. I did a quick Google before but didn't come up with immediate solutions. Wacko 15:03, 8 January 2008 (CET)
[edit] Article names
What exactly is our mode of capitalizing names of the articles and headlines? I've by now seen every possible one.
- Capitalize the words according to English rules (game: "gazogem refinery" -> Gazogem Refinery; game: "Principal Island/island" -> Principal Island)
- Leaving everything uncapitalized (game: "Lucky Clover Leaf" -> Clover leaf)
- In the article itself, capitalizing the name (game: "orange powder" -> "The Orange Powder (...)".)
I think we need to set up rules on how to do that. - Kobold 12:03, 12 January 2008 (CET)
[edit] Image size
All images exceeding 200px in width get scaled down to having exactly 200px with. This is a very strict rule, and also one with no reason. In fact, images which are much more wide than high may get very small (Image:Rebellion-Island-map.png), and maps of islands are unreadable when scaled down too much. Some stretch problems also occur when images are only a little wider in their original size (Image:Catamara.gif measures 225px width, scaled down to 200px on the Catamaran page it looks very strange). I think we should drop the 200px rule. - Kobold 12:08, 12 January 2008 (CET)
